Reanimation Rules & Info
While we’d like to include everyone, there are specific requirements for participating in the Reanimation Collab:
- Applicants must demonstrate basic animation skills and an understanding of the principles of animation.
- Applicants must provide a URL to a SFW demo reel or portfolio, or a link to a previous animation posted on a social media platform (e.g., YouTube).
- Applicants must include a brief description of the animation style they plan to use for their assigned scene (e.g., 2D, 3D, stop-motion, puppets).
- Scenes are assigned randomly at the discretion of project management. You may request a specific scene, but requests are not guaranteed due to limited scene count and availability.
- Final scene submissions must be 1920x1080 resolution at 24 FPS.
- The use of Generative AI in submissions will not be tolerated. Suspected use of AI will result in immediate removal from the project.
- The use of licensed art (such as stock photos or sprites) must be disclosed when the scene is submitted.
- Watermarks are not permitted in final scene submissions. All artists will be credited in the final Reanimation Collab video.
- Artistic creativity is encouraged, provided that changes maintain the context and continuity of the original scene.
- All submissions must be PG-13. As a general rule of thumb, consider whether or not Jerma would show the art on-stream. This means no nudity, explicit violence, gore, sexual content, political or religious commentary, or discriminatory content. Rule violation will result in the scene being rejected and removal from the project.
FAQ
Does the collab have a deadline?
We have an internal deadline we'd like to have the project finished by but nothing is set in stone. The community is free to take all the time it needs to create great art.
What is the process for joining the collab?
Applications to join the collabs are managed through Discord. To apply, join the official Otto’s Big Collab Discord server by clicking the Join the Collab button above. Once you request access to the server, you will be prompted to complete an application, where you can sign up for either the Reanimation Collab or the Collage.
Applications for the Reanimation Collab are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If accepted, a member of the project management team will contact you via official Discord DMs with next steps and instructions.
Applications for the Collage are processed as quickly as possible. Once approved, you will gain access to the server and be added to a private collage channel, where you’ll collaborate with a small group using a shared Whiteboard canvas. If you prefer to work on a different platform, such as Krita or Photoshop, you may instead submit your final piece to the #collage-submissions channel.
What is Whiteboard?
Whiteboard is a built-in app on Discord that allows users to draw on a shared canvas. We opted to use Whiteboard for this project to ensure the barrier to entry for all users is as low as possible. Click here to learn more about Whiteboard
How should I make my collage art?
The theme is all things Otto! So long as the art depicts Otto and follows the rules, you are free to make the art as you please. All mediums of artistic expression are welcome.
My scene for the reanimation collab has a lot of camera motion. What do I do?
You are more than welcome to modify the shot to be static cam or add your own twist. Make it awkward, funny, or whatever you’d like! Just ensure all changes maintain the context and continuity of the original scene.
Can I request a specific scene for the reanimation collab?
Scenes are assigned randomly and by the discretion of project management. You may request a particular scene upon admittance into the project. Requests aren’t guaranteed due to limited scene count and availability, but we’ll do our best to accommodate everyone as we can.
Can I team up with another artist for my scene?
Absolutely! Just ensure you credit their portion of the work when submitting your final scene.
Will Jerma show the collabs on-stream?
We may look into contacting Jerma's mod team regarding the reanimation collab being put on 2ndJerma but there is no concrete plans at this moment. Jerma is in retirement and will more than likely not want to show fan content on-stream.
What content is not allowed?
All submissions to Otto's Big Collab must be PG-13. A general rule of thumb is whether or not Jerma would show it on-stream. This means no nudity, explicit violence, gore, explicit sexual content, political commentary, religious commentary, or discrimination. The use of Generative AI is strictly prohibited.
